Dr. Bagyalakshmi Arumugham is an experienced, board-certified psychiatrist who has been practicing in the Richardson area for more than 30 years. She does psychiatric evaluation, medication management and psychotherapy. She obtained her Medical Degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India, did her Residency in New York State and moved to Texas about 40 years ago. After working at the Dallas Veteran's Administration hospital treating patients in inpatient settings and out patient clinic, she also spent more than a year in the alcohol treatment unit in the V.A. hospital. After leaving the VA Hospital, she started private practice in Richardson treating patients in the hospitals and in her office. Currently seeing patients mostly by Tele visits and in the office when required. With the knowledge she gained over the years and keeping up with the current information in psychiatry, she tries her best to diagnose properly and provide the best treatment possible so that her patients can return to their previous level of functioning. If required, she will refer them to a higher level of care like intensive out patient, day hospital and inpatient programs.
Dr. Arumugham lives with her husband in Dallas, and her grown children live in the area with their families. She is a member of local and national organizations like Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Federation of Texas Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association and North Texas Psychiatric Society, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, and Texas Indian Physician Society. She also has been member of Dallas area women in psychiatry.
She specializes in treating adults with depression, anxiety & panic disorders/ADHD, OCD, PTSD, personality disorders, and bipolar disorders.
